WHAT IS MAT?

Medication-assisted treatment.

MAT is the use of medication, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.

Medications used in MAT  are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and MAT programs are clinically driven and tailored to meet each patient’s needs.

Research.

Research shows that a combination of medication and clinical therapy can successfully treat substance use disorders, and for some people struggling with addiction, MAT can help sustain recovery.

MAT is also used to prevent or reduce opioid overdose. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) | SAMHSA

Treatment.

Our residents are engaged in treatment with a comprehensive outpatient medication-assisted treatment provider.

The integration of recovery housing and the intensive outpatient treatment program is part of what makes our approach so unique.  Sunstone works in conjunction with the resident to manage their medications; with the goal of creating an individual who is stable, responsible and confident enough to do this important task on their own.  We strongly believe individuals should have access to the medications that work best for their recovery, health and wellness.

"You can come out of the furnace of trouble two ways: if you let it consume you, you come out a cinder; but there is a kind of metal which refuses to be consumed, and comes out a star."
